FIESTA!... FIESTA!...

Well it wasn’t the lights camera action game of touchdowns here and touchdowns there, but the ending was a thriller. The No. 1 Auburn Tigers defeated the No. 2 Oregon Ducks 22-19.  It was kicker Wes Byrun’s 19-yard field goal as time expired, that gave Auburn their first national championship since 1957.  Let’s see what was happening 54 years ago… The Russians launched sputnik, the Milwaukee Braves beat the New York Yankees in the World Series, and the #1 movie was Thee Ten Commandments.
My top play of the night goes to true freshman running back Michael Dyer who nearly forgot the play isn’t over until you hear the whistle. Thank God for his sideline! Dyer ran for 143 yards and was named Offensive Player of the Game. The Tigers perfect 14-0 season was led by their Heisman winning quarterback Cam Newton who threw for 265 yards and had 2 touchdowns.  As well as the all-star defense who had two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
The high power Oregon Offense was held below 37 points for only the second time this season. Oregon QB Darron Thomas threw for 363 yards and had 2 touchdowns. This was the SEC’s fifth straight national championship.  The Tigers were able to overcome everything and prove themselves worthy.  Congratulations Auburn Tigers you guys are the National Champions! Now the question is what draft pick will Killa Cam be?
